Atlanta[1] est caput et urbs maxima Civitatis Georgiae in Civitatibus Foederatis Americae. Sedes Fulton comitatus est, et in DeKalb comitatum extenditur. Numerus civium regionis urbanae est 6 200 000 fere.

Anno 1821, terra ubi urbs patet civitati Georgiae a gente Muscogeana(en) cedebatur. Urbs est fundata anno 1837 a "Western and Atlantic" (Occidentalis et Atlantica), societate ferriviaria quo ligabatur media Georgiae pars cum Tennesia Flumine. Nomen urbis illo tempore fuit Terminus. Postea nominabatur '"Marthasville,'" et anno 1845 Atlanta. Crescebat per influxum commercii, et anno 1861 facta est sedes ferriviarium et forum in Bello Civili Americano. Mense Novembri 1864, a Gulielmi T. Sherman exercitu cremata est, sed statim est refecta, et caput civitatis facta anno 1868, usque ad tempus hodiernum crescit.
