Object history
Deutsch: Die zwei schräg gestellten silbernen Fische sind aus dem seit 1416 geführten Stiftswappen der Augustinerpropstei St. Zeno in Bad Reichenhall übernommen (zwei silberne Fische im roten Feld). St. Zeno ist eng mit der Geschichte von Petting verbunden. Seit 1335 war die Pfarrei Petting dem Kloster inkorporiert, das schon zuvor das Präsentationsrecht besessen hatte. St. Zeno spielte auch als Grundherrschaft eine Rolle im Gemeindegebiet. Die Wellenleiste über den Fischen versinnbildlicht die Lage der Gemeinde am Waginger See.
