사향고양이아과(Viverrinae)는 사향고양이과에 속하는 아과 분류군의 하나로 1864년 존 에드워드 그레이가 처음 기술했다.[1] 아프리카와 동남아시아에 서식하는 5속 22종으로 이루어져 있다.[2]
분포 및 생태
[편집]중동 지역 전역에서 발견되며, 아프리카시벳은 아프리카에 서식하는 대표적인 종이다.[3] 유럽제넷 (Genetta genetta)은 유럽과 발레아레스 제도에 도입된 종으로 간주되며, 포르투갈과 스페인 전체과 프랑스 대부분의 지역에서 발견된다.[4] 일반적으로 홀로 생활하며, 분류학적으로 식육목에 속하지만 잡식성동물이다.[5]
