Хамурапи — б.з.б. 1792 — 1750 жылдардағы Вавилон патшасы. Қосөзен аралығын мекендеген арамей тайпасынан шыққан. Хамурапидың кезінде Вавилон өрлеп, дамыды. Шебер саясаткер әрі қолбасшы Хамурапи әскери күш пен дипломатияның көмегі арқасында 35 жылдың ішінде Вавилонға Ассирияны, Месопотамияның оңт. және орт. бөлігін бағындырды. Оның кезінде тауар-ақша қатынастары, жеке меншік, құл иеленуші шаруашылық дамыды. Мемлекеттің орталықтануы мен патша билігі күшейді. Ол Хаммурапи заңдарынан көрініс тапты.
