Double Helix Games LLC、またはダブルヘリックスとはカリフォルニア州アーバインに拠点を置くアメリカのゲーム開発スタジオである。「Foundation 9」と「The Collective and Shiny Entertainment」の合併を通じて設立された。スタジオは2014年5月にAmazon.comにより買収された[1]。スタジオの最初の販売作品はプレイステーション3とXBOX 360向けのゲーム「サイレントヒル ホームカミング」である。
歴史
[編集]Double Helix Gamesは「Foundation 9 」と「The Collective and Shiny Entertainment」の合併で2007年に創立した。ダブルヘリックスは自社のサイト上で、開発経験は併せて20年以上になり[2]、世界でも最も長く、最も経験があるゲーム開発企業の一つだと引用している。ダブルヘリックスはサイト上で全ての主要家庭用ゲーム機向けの開発企業であり、スターウォーズ、マトリックス、インディー・ジョーンズ、バフィー・ザ・バンパイアスレイヤーなどの数多くの著名IPを手掛けてきたとも述べている。
ダブルヘリックスはXbox One、PlayStation 4、PC向けの次期タイトル用にHEXエンジンを使い始めた。「Killer Instinct」シリーズの三作目の「Killer Instinct (2013)」 は新エンジンを使った最初の作品だった[3]。
2014年2月には、Amazon.comがダブルヘリックスを買収した。 Polygonに発表された声明では、マイクロソフトはダブルヘリックスがシーズン１を手掛けた「キラーインスティンクト」シリーズの今後の新作タイトルは新たな開発パートナーと協力していくと述べた[4]。
