メールサーバ
メールサーバ（英語: email server）は、電子メールを配送するためのサーバソフトウェアあるいはサーバコンピュータのこと。
現在、インターネットで使われているものは、POP/SMTPやIMAPを使ったものが主流である。 パソコン通信などではその他のプロトコルを使うものもある。
メールサーバは、相手先を振り分けるメール転送エージェント(MTA)、振り分けられたメールをサーバ内のユーザや別のサーバへ配送するメール配送エージェント(MDA)などに分けることができる。
市場シェア
[編集]メールサーバのシェアに関するデータを取得するのは困難であり、信頼できる一次資料はほとんどなく、シェアの計測方法やデータ収集について合意された方法論もない。
インターネットに公開されたシステムの調査では、通常、バナーまたはその他の識別機能を介してシステムを識別しようとする[1]。 その結果として、 Postfixとeximが80％以上のシェアを持つ圧倒的なリーダーとしている[2][1]。
