La European Rugby Champions Cup 2018-19 fu la 24ª coppa d'Europa per squadre di club di rugby a 15, espressione delle federazioni di Francia, Galles, Inghilterra, Irlanda e Scozia.
La finale si è svolta l'11 maggio 2019 nello stadio St James' Park di Newcastle upon Tyne in Inghilterra.
Squadre partecipanti
[modifica | modifica wikitesto]Le 20 squadre partecipanti provengono dai campionati francese Top 14, inglese English Premiership e dal trans-nazionale Pro14 secondo i seguenti criteri:
- le 6 squadre meglio classificate nel Top 14 2017-2018
- le 6 squadre meglio classificate nella English Premiership 2017-2018
- 7 squadre del Pro14 2017-2018 scelte in base alla classifica (ad esclusione delle squadre sudafricane): le 3 migliori di ognuno dei due gironi del torneo e la settima scelta tramite una partita di spareggio
- la ventesima squadra è stata scelta in quanto seconda classificata alla European Rugby Challenge Cup 2017-2018 in base ai criteri stabiliti da EPCR che, per la stagione 2018-2019, prevedevano che il posto fosse assegnato a:[1]
- la vincitrice della European Rugby Champions Cup 2017-2018, se non già altrimenti qualificata
- la finalista sconfitta della European Rugby Challenge Cup 2017-2018, se non già altrimenti qualificata
- la vincitrice di una partita di spareggio tra le semifinaliste perdenti della European Rugby Challenge Cup 2017-2018, se non già altrimenti qualificate
- La miglior classificata, tra le squadre non qualificate, nel campionato da cui proviene la vincitrice della European Rugby Champions Cup 2017-2018

Gironi
[modifica | modifica wikitesto]Nella prima fase le squadre sono suddivise in 5 gironi di 4 squadre ognuno con partite di andata e ritorno. Il sorteggio dei gruppi della prima fase si è tenuto il 20 giugno 2018 al Museo olimpico di Losanna.[2] Le squadre sono state suddivise secondo quattro fasce di merito.[3]
