La Bison Motion Pictures è stata una casa di produzione cinematografica statunitense. Dal 1909, data della sua fondazione, al 1917, la compagnia produsse oltre seicento film.

Fondazione

Nel 1909, la New York Motion Picture Company fu una delle prime compagnie cinematografiche a stabilirsi nel distretto losangelino di Edendale. Seguì, infatti, la Selig Polyscope, che era stata la prima casa di produzione cinematografica a spostare i suoi stabilimenti in quella zona. La casa di New York adottò il marchio Bison Pictures per la produzione dei suoi cortometraggi a un rullo, quasi tutti dei western. Lo studio originale era situato al 1719 di Allesandro Street. La New York Motion Picture Company aveva affidato gli studi californiani a un manager generale, Fred Balshofer che, in precedenza aveva lavorato per la Lubin Studios. Balshofer restò alla testa della Bison per un paio d'anni, fino a quando a Edendale arrivò Thomas H. Ince.
