Schadenfreude (/ˈʃɑːdənfrɔɪdə/; Jerman: [ˈʃaːdn̩ˌfʁɔʏ̯də] ) adalah rasa senang, gembira, atau puas yang muncul setelah melihat atau mendengar kabar seseorang yang sedang mengalami kesulitan, kegagalan atau kehinaan. Istilah ini berasal dari bahasa Jerman dan pertama kali tertulis pada tahun 1740-an.[1] Dalam bahasa Inggris, istilah yang serupa tetapi jarang digunakan adalah "epicharikaky", yang merupakan serapan dari bahasa Yunani epichairekakia (ἐπιχαιρεκακία, pertama kali ditulis oleh Aristoteles[2]), dari ἐπί epi 'atas', χαρά chara 'kegembiraan', dan κακόν kakon 'jahat'.[3][4][5][6]

Dalam bahasa Indonesia, istilah ini serupa dengan ungkapan dalam bahasa gaul "senang lihat orang susah, susah lihat orang senang".
