Pembantaian Amboina
Pembantaian Amboina adalah penyiksaan dan eksekusi dua puluh orang di Pulau Ambon (saat itu disebut juga "Amboina") pada tahun 1623, di mana sepuluh orang di antaranya adalah pegawai Perusahaan Hindia Timur Britania. Pembantaian ini dilakukan oleh orang-orang dari Perusahaan Hindia Timur Belanda, dengan tuduhan pengkhianatan.[1] Pembantaian ini merupakan akibat dari persaingan antara kedua perusahaan Hindia Timur (Britania dan Belanda ) tersebut dalam perdagangan rempah, dan tetap menjadi sumber ketegangan antara kedua negara sampai akhir abad ke-17.
