Pellorneidae adalah keluarga terbesar dalam ordo Passeriformes. Keluarga Pellorneidae agak beragam dalam ukuran dan warna, tetapi ditandai dengan bulu lembut berbulu. Ini adalah burung dari daerah tropis, dengan berbagai terbesar di Asia Tenggara dan benua India. Seluruh keluarga Pellorneidae sebelumnya dikelompokkan dalam Timaliidae .
Karakteristik
[sunting | sunting sumber]Keluarga Pellorneidae' bebtubuh kecil untuk burung berukuran sedang. Mereka memiliki kaki yang kuat, dan banyak yang cukup terestrial. Mereka biasanya memiliki tagihan umum, mirip dengan sebuah seriawan atau warbler . Sebagian besar memiliki bulu dominan coklat, dengan perbedaan minimal antara jenis kelamin, tetapi lebih banyak spesies berwarna cerah juga ada.[1]
Kelompok ini tidak kuat bermigrasi, dan sebagian besar spesies memiliki sayap bulat pendek, dan penerbangan yang lemah. Mereka tinggal di ringan berhutan atau semak belukar lingkungan, mulai dari rawa ke dekat-gurun. Mereka terutama serangga, meskipun banyak juga akan mengambil berry, dan spesies yang lebih besar bahkan akan memakan kadal kecil dan vertebrata lainnya
