Parsi India, berasal dari kata Persia, yang berarti suku bangsa asli yang berasal dari Iran, mereka beragama Zoroaster, agama tua yang diambil dari nama Nabi mereka sendiri, Zoroaster. Mereka memuja Dewa-Dewa yang mereka sebut Ahura Mazda (Dewa Terang) dan Ahriman (Dewa Kegelapan). Ajaran Agama ini termasuk Polytheisme, agama yang ber-Tuhan lebih dari satu, tetapi Zoroaster mengajarkan bahwa yang patut disembah hanyalah Ahura Mazda sehingga agama ini sering kali disebut sebagai agama Monoteisme

Pada saat kedatangan agama Islam, sebagian besar bangsa Iran umumnya langsung menganut agama Islam, tetapi adapula sebagian dari mereka yang tetap bertahan pada tradisi lama, yaitu menganut agama Zoroaster, dan umumnya mereka berimigrasi ke negara-negara tetangga mereka. India menjadi pilihan utama mereka, sebab negara tersebut dikenal memiliki kultur budaya yang cukup berwarna dan demokratis dalam beragama.

Salah satu tokoh terkenal yang menganut agama ini adalah Freddie Mercury, mantan vokalis grup Rock terkemuka Queen.

Dalam sejarah perkembangan Islam, bangsa Arab (Timur-Tengah) juga menyebut agama ini dengan sebutan agama Majusi.
