Bersama dengan Anakin Skywalker, R2-D2 dan C-3PO, ia adalah salah satu dari sedikit tokoh yang muncul dalam tiap episode film Star Wars. Dalam Trilogi Asli, tokoh ini diperankan oleh aktor Alec Guinness, sementara itu pada Trilogi Awal ia diperankan oleh aktor Ewan McGregor.
