Johann Matthias Gesner
Johann Matthias Gesner (9 April 1691 – 3 Agustus 1761) adalah sejarawan klasik dan guru sekolah Jerman. Di lahir di Roth an der Rednitz dekat Ansbach. Dia belajar metafisika, bahasa Semit, dan sastra klasik sebagai mahasiswa teologi di Universitas Jena, dan bekerja pada Johann Franz Buddeus, yang berkawan dengn Gesner dan mengizinkannya tinggal di rumahnya. Gesner kemudian terkenal sebagai seorang reformer, sejarawan, dan humanis.
