Internasionalisme (politik)

Internasionalisme adalah gerakan yang mengusung kerja sama ekonomi dan politik antarbangsa yang lebih besar demi kemaslahatan bersama.[1] Para pendukung gerakan ini, misalnya pendukung Gerakan Federalis Dunia, mengklaim bahwa semua bangsa harus bekerja sama karena kepentingan bersamanya dalam jangka panjang jauh lebih penting daripada kebutuhan perorangan dalam jangka pendek. Internasionalisme merupakan reaksi lain terhadap situasi yang sama. Seperti nasionalisme, internasionalisme jauh lebih ambigu dan rumit ketimbang kerangka teorinya. Internasionalitas kapitalis menciptakan nasionalisme dan internasionalisme. Sejak Imperium Revolusi Prancisnya Napoleon bangkit dan runtuh, nasionalisme dan internasionalisme saling bersitegang dengan satu sama lain.[2]

Pada dasarnya, internasionalisme berbeda dengan ultranasionalisme, jingoisme, dan chauvinisme nasional.[3] Internasionalisme mengajarkan bahwa semua bangsa memiliki kesamaan yang lebih banyak daripada perbedaan sehingga mereka harus memperlakukan satu sama lain secara tanpa pilih kasih. Istilah internasionalisme sering disalahartikan sebagai sinonim dari kosmopolitanisme. "Kosmopolitanis" juga kadang dijadikan istilah untuk mengejek kaum internasionalis.
