Fisikawan

Isaac Newton adalah seorang tokoh revolusioner dalam pengembangan fisika modern sebagai ilmu pasti.

Fisikawan atau ahli fisika adalah seorang ilmuwan yang melakukan penelitian dalam bidang fisika. Fisikawan mempelajari berbagai fenomena fisik dalam berbagai cabang fisika dari partikel sub-atom sampai dengan perilaku materi alam semesta secara keseluruhan (kosmologi).

Sejarah

Studi umum dan luas tentang alam, filsafat alam, terbagi menjadi beberapa bidang pada abad ke-19, ketika bentuk modern sains muncul. Istilah-istilah baru muncul seperti "biologi" dan "ahli biologi", "fisika" dan "fisikawan", "kimia" dan "ahli kimia", dan lainnya.[1] Istilah "fisikawan" dicetuskan oleh filsuf Inggris, sekaligus imam, dan sejarawan ilmu pengetahuan William Whewell pada tahun 1840, untuk menunjukkan kultivator fisika[2] dalam bukunya berjudul The Philosophy of the Inductive Sciences tahun 1840.[3]

Penghargaan

Penghargaan tertinggi yang diberikan kepada fisikawan adalah Penghargaan Nobel Fisika. Penghargaan ini diberikan sejak tahun 1901 oleh Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences.
