Etnoarkeologi adalah salah satu cabang ilmu arkeologi yang mempelajari budaya dan teknologi primitif kontemporer sebagai suatu cara untuk memberikan analogi dan pola untuk menggambarkan budaya prasejarah.[1] Dalam etnoarkeologi dilakukan studi ilmiah tentang kelompok masyarakat yang ditujukan untuk memahami hubungan perilaku yang mendorong terciptanya budaya material.[1] Istilah etnoarkeologi berasal dari dua buah kata yaitu etno dan arkeologi.[1]
Dengan mempelajari tradisi material dan non-material masyarakat modern, ahli arkeologi menggunakan ilmu ini untuk mempelajari cara hidup pada masa lalu. Para ahli tersebut menyimpulkan bahwa masyarakat kuno dan modern menggunakan teknik yang sama apabila hidup pada situasi lingkungan yang sama.[2][3]
