Barbara Stanwyck (16 Juli 1907 – 20 Januari 1990) adalah perempuan artis film Amerika Serikat, terkenal selama 1930-1940an.[1]
Riwayat hidup ringkas
[sunting | sunting sumber]Barbara Stanwiyck lahir dengan nama Ruby Katherine Stevens.[1][2] Ibunya meninggal pada sebuah kecelakaan pada saat ia berumur 3 tahun, ayahnya juga meninggalkannya untuk bekerja di pembangunan Kanal Panama pada saat ia berusia 5 tahun.[2] Besar bersama sang kakak bernama Mildred yang bekerja sebagai penyanyi paduan suara, ia pun mengikuti jejak sang kakak.[2] Ia mengawali kariernya sebagai penari, kemudian berkat produser Willar Mack, ia ditawari memainkan peran dalam film The Noose pada tahun 1925.[1] Film yang mengantarkan Barbara Stanwyck menjadi terkenal adalah Burlesque pada tahun 1927.[1]

[sunting | sunting sumber]Selain membintangi beberapa film, Barbara sendiri menjadi artis di televisi, di samping bermain untuk acara dramanya sendiri, The Barbara Stanwyck Show yang belangsung dari tahun 1960-1961.[1] Ia juga tampil dalam serti Big Valley pada tahun 1965-1969.[1]
