A New Kind of Science adalah sebuah buku kontroversial karya Stephen Wolfram yang diterbitkan tahun 2002 dan telah memenangkan banyak penghargaan serta laris di pasaran.[1] Buku ini memaparkan studi empiris dan sistematis terhadap sistem komputasional seperti automata seluler. Wolfram menyebut sistem-sistem ini program sederhana dan berpendapat bahwa filsafat ilmiah dan metode yang pantas untuk studi program sederhana ini relevan dengan beberapa bidang ilmu pengetahuan lain.
