बन्दरगाह
बंदरगाह (Harbor, हार्बर) किसी बड़े जल निकाय से जुड़ा हुआ ऐसा छोटा जलसमूह होता है जहाँ जलयानों और नावों को बड़े जलनिकाय के खुले पानी से आश्रय मिलता है। यहाँ से लोग व समान इन जल वाहनों से भूमि पर आ-जा सकते हैं। कई बंदरगाहों में जहाज़ों के स्वयं भूमि तक आकर उसके साथ खड़े होने के प्रबन्ध होते हैं, लेकिन अन्य में कम गहराई के कारण जलयान भूमि से कुछ दूरी पर खड़े होते हैं और उनसे सामान व लोग छोटी नावों द्वारा भूमि तक आए-जाए सकते हैं।[1][2]
बंदरगाहें प्राकृतिक या कृत्रिम हो सकती हैं। भारत के कच्छ ज़िले में स्थित कंडला एक प्राकृतिक बंदरगाह है, जबकि अमेरिका के कैलीफ़ोर्निया राज्य का लॉग आईलैण्ड बंदरगाह कृत्रिम रूप से निचली दलदली भूमि और उस से सटे कम गहाराई वाले वाले सागरीय क्षेत्र को खोदकर बनायाई गई थी।[3][4][5]
