A Porta do Sol[1] é unha céntrica praza da cidade de Madrid. Aquí atópase desde 1950 o denominado Quilómetro Cero das estradas radiais españolas.

O edificio máis antigo da Porta do Sol é a Casa de Correos e nela destaca o reloxo de torre que foi construído e doado no século XIX por José Rodríguez de Losada, e cuxas badaladas das 12 da noite do 31 de decembro marcan a tradicional toma das doce uvas á gran maioría dos españois. Ditas badaladas empezáronse a televisar o 31 de decembro de 1962 na Primera de Televisión Española e a partir dese ano non se deixaron de retransmitir por diversas canles de televisión de España.

A Porta do Sol foi nas súas orixes un dos accesos do valado que rodeaba Madrid no século XV, que recollía no seu perímetro os arrabaldes medievais que foran crecendo extramuros, a redor da muralla cristiá do século XII. O nome da porta provén dun sol que adornaba a entrada, colocado aí por estar orientada a porta cara ao levante.
