Micrómetro

O micrómetro[1] é unha unidade do SI correspondente a 10−6m. O nome formouse a partir do prefixo micro-, que representa a millonésima parte, e a unidade metro.

Lámpada Krypton-86 usada para a definición do metro entre 1960 e 1983. Exposta na habitación 6 do museo NIST.

O micrómetro é tamén coñecido como micron, abreviado µ.

En fabricación mecánica o micron é a unidade de lonxitude máis pequena en que se acoutan as tolerancias das cotas das pezas que son rectificadas.

1 µm = 0,001 mm = 1 × 10-3 mm
1 mm = 1.000 µm

Un micrómetro equivale a unha millonésima de metro:

Un micrómetro equivale a mil nanómetros:
