O uzbeko está clasificado como "en estado seguro" polo Libro Vermello das Linguas Ameazadas da UNESCO[2]

A lingua uzbeka[3] ou uzbeko (O'zbek tili en alfabeto latino, Ўзбек en cirílico) é unha lingua turca falada polos uzbekos en Uzbekistán e máis noutras partes da Asia Central. O seu parente máis próximo é o uigur. O persa e mailo ruso teñen tido unha influencia significativa no uzbeko.

É a lingua oficial do Uzbekistán, con 18,5 millóns de falantes nativos. Foi escrita en cirílico ata o 1992, mais hoxe en día úsase o alfabeto latino. Os uzbekos chineses escríbeno en alfabeto árabe.
