O dinka está clasificado como "en estado seguro" polo Libro Vermello das Linguas Ameazadas da UNESCO[1]

O dinka[2] (chamado thuɔŋjäŋ, thuɔŋ ee Jieng ou sinxelamente jieng) é unha lingua nilo-sahariana falada polo pobo dinka, o principal grupo étnico do Sudán do Sur. Existen diferentes variedades, o ngok, o rek, o agaar, o awiel, o twic mayardit, o hol, o nyarweng, o twi e o bor, que son diferentes de abondo para requirir estándares lingüísticos separados e ser consideradas linguas diferentes. Jaang, jieng ou monyjieng é o termo xeral que abrangue tódalas variedades da lingua. O rek é o estándar e o dialecto de prestixio.
