Is cathair i bhFlóndras, an Bheilg, é Dendermonde. Cé go labhraítear Pléimeannais (réimse canúintí de chuid na hOllainnise) i bhFlóndras, tá ainm faoi leith sa Fhraincis ar an gcathair freisin: Termonde. Tá sé suite i gCúige Fhlóndras Thoir, i dtuaisceart na tíre, san áit a ritheann an Dender isteach in abhainn na Schelde ("béal an Dender"). Tá lámhdhéantúsáin den chultúr La Tène faighte sa cheantar. Fuair Dendermonde a cairt chathrach sa bhliain 1233. Ag tús na bliana 2016 measadh 45,367 duine a bheith ina gcónaí sa chathair.
