„Das Wappen der Stadt Brandenburg an der Havel besteht aus dem Wappen der ehemals selbständigen Städte Altstadt und Neustadt in der Form des Doppelschildwappens von 1715 in der Fassung von 1901.“ „Die Flagge der Stadt Brandenburg an der Havel ist eine dreistreifige Flagge in den traditionellen Stadtfarben der ehemals selbständigen Städte Altstadt (grün) und Neustadt (blau). In dem diagonal verlaufenden Weißbereich, der die Havel symbolisiert, wird das Stadtwappen zentral geführt.“
