Onamin aikana tehdään talojen eteen Athappookkalam nimisiä pyöreitä kukkamattoja. Niiden halkaisija voi olla 4–5 metriä.[1]

Onam (malajalamiksi ഓണം) on elo-syyskuussa Intian Keralan osavaltiossa vietettävä vuotuinen hindujuhla. Tapahtuma juhlistaa sadonkorjuuta ja hindujumala Mahabalia. Alappuzhassa järjestetään venekilpailu ja Thrissurissa norsukulkue.[2]
