Cut Chemist, eli Lucas MacFadden (s. 4. lokakuuta 1972)^[1] on yhdysvaltalainen DJ ja tuottaja.^[2][3][4][5]

Hän on ollut Ozomatlin ja hip-hop-ryhmä Jurassic 5:n jäsen ja on työskennellyt useilla levyillä DJ Shadow’n kanssa.

Cut Chemist tuli tunnetuksi Los Angelesilaisen rap-ryhmä Unity Committee:n kautta ja debytoi heidän vuonna 1993 julkaistun vinyylisinglen ”Unified Rebelution” B-puolella kappaleella ”Lesson 4: The Radio”.

Ennen levyn julkaisua Unity Committee perusti Jurassic 5:n toisen ryhmän, Rebels of Rhytmin, kanssa. Cut Chemist oli aktiivisesti mukana Jurassic 5:n toiminnassa ja teki kappaleen ”Lesson 6: The Lecture” Jurassic 5:n eponymous EP:lle ja oli mukana levyn tuottamisessa. Ryhmän levyjulkaisujen välillä hän perehtyi remiksaukseen DJ Shadow’n ja Liquid Liquidin kanssa ja esiintyi yhtyeiden Less than Jake ja Ozomatli kanssa. Vuosien 1996 ja 1997 vaihteessa hän äänitti debyyttialbuminsa ”Live at Future Sound Session” Shortkutin kanssa.

Cut Chemist ei ollut mukana Jurassic 5:n viimeisellä ”Feedback” levyllä 2006. Hän kertoi Billboard-lehdelle jättäneensä ryhmän.^[6]

Cut Chemistin ensimmäinen täyspitkä sooloalbumi The Audience's Listening, julkaistiin 11. heinäkuuta 2006.^[7]

Cut Chemist oli kiertueella DJ Shadow’n kanssa vuonna 2008 promotoimassa uutta The Hard Sell levyä. Kid Koala toimi lämmittelijänä. Esiintymisiä oli muun muassa Dallasissa, New Yorkissa, San Franciscossa, Melbournessa, Torontossa, Vancouverissa, Lontoossa, Hampurissa ja Pariisissa.

Cut Chemist on myös esiintynyt palkitussa dokumentissa This is the Life (2008) ja elokuvassa Up In The Air (2009).
