Aurinkosynkroninen rata (SSO, Sun-synchronous orbit) on verraten matala Maa-keskinen kiertorata (LEO, engl.Low Earth Orbit). Ratakorkeus on tyypillisesti 600–800 km. Radalle on ominaista ratatason siirtyminen yhden asteen verran idemmäksi joka päivä. Tällöin Aurinkoon nähden ratatason kiertymä pysyy paikoillaan eli satelliitti kiertää maata samoissa valaistusolosuhteissa päivästä toiseen.
Aurinkosynkroninen rata onkin suosittu Maata kiertävien tutkimussatelliittien, kuten sääsatelliittien, käyttämä kiertorata. Esimerkkejä aurinkosynkronisilla radoilla olevista satelliiteista ovat NOAA-satelliitit ja Meteor-satelliitit.
