دانشنامه آزاد(به انگلیسی: Free Encyclopedia) نوعی از دانشنامه یا همان دایره المعارف است که همه خوانندگان آن از لحاط قانونی سیاست نامه ای آن دانشنامه یا به صورت کاملا آزادانه حق داشته و می توانند در بخشی از مطالب آن یا همه مطالب تغییر ایجاد کنند. تعریف و تمایز دانشنامه آزاد از دانشنامه آنلاین تنها می تواند در نوشتاری یا غیرنوشتاری بودن یا کتبی و آفلاین یا اینترنتی و آنلاین بودن باشد. دانشنامه آزاد معمولا نسبت به دیگر دانشنامه ها بسیار پرمحتواتر و غنی تر است اما ممکن است از حیث تاریخی بودن تفاوت عمده داشته باشد که بسیار جدیدتر است. تاکنون دانشنامه های آزاد کتبی آفلاین بسیار کم بوده اند.[۱]
چگونگی ویرایش دانشنامه کتبی
[ویرایش]ویرایش دانشنامه کتبی معمولا از سوی کاربران تعریف نمی شود بلکه از سوی خوانندگان توصیف می گردد. می تواند با اجازه از ناشر یا بیشتر نویسنده نظر در ویراستاری و ویرایش نسخه های بعدی داد یا ویرایش لحظه ای بدون چاپ های بعدی کرد. یا عناوینی به منظور سرگرمی اضافه کرد.[۲]
