Kummituskraater Suisei Planitial

Suisei Planitia on suur, ligikaudu 570 km laiune siledate tasandike ala Merkuuril.

Suisei Planitial asuvad ebatavalised pinnavormid, mida nimetatakse kummituskraatriteks. Need on pinnasesse mattunud ja ümardatud profiiliga ning ainult nende servaharjad tõusevad ümbritsevate siledate tasandike kohale. Teadlased on oletanud, et Suisei Planitia moodustanud materjal pärineb planeeti tabanud löögist, mis moodustas Caloris Planitia. Suisei Planitia nime kiitis heaks 1976. aastal Rahvusvaheline Astronoomiaunioon.

2015. aastal kukkus tasandikule NASA kosmoseaparaat MESSENGER.[1]
