Hassan II

Hassan II (1981)

Hassan II (9. juuli 1929 – 23. juuli 1999) oli Maroko kuningas alates 1961.

Hassan II tõusis troonile pärast oma isa, kuningas Mohammed V surma. 1965 Casablancas puhkenud rahutuste järel kehtestas ta diktatuuri ja elas üle kaks riigipöördekatset. Endise Hispaania Lääne-Aafrika, Lääne-Sahara okupeerimine 1976 võimaldas Hassanil saavutada rahvahulkade poolehoidu ja tugevdada võimu. 1984 naasis ta põhiseadusliku valitsemise juurde: rahvusliku ühtsuse valitsust hakkas juhtima tsivilist.

1998 leppis osales Hassan II valitava valitsuse moodustamises, kuigi see jäi monarhia kontrolli alla.
