Amy Biehl

Amy Elizabeth Biehl (26. aprill 1967 Santa Monica, California25. august 1993 Gugulethu, Kaplinna linnaringkond, Lääne-Kapimaa provints, Lõuna-Aafrika Vabariik) oli Ameerika Ühendriikide teadlane ja apartheidivastane aktivist.

Amy Biehl oli pärit valgest keskklassi perekonnast.[1] Ta lõpetas 1989. aastal Stanfordi ülikooli bakalaureusekraadiga rahvusvaheliste suhete alal.[2]

Aastatel 1992–1993 õppis ta Fulbrighti programmi stipendiumiga doktoriõppes Lääne-Kapimaa Ülikoolis.[3][4] Lisaks töötas ta sama ülikooli õiguskeskuses ja aitas ette valmistada parlamendivalimisi.[5]

25. augustil 1993 sõidutas ta autoga tuttavaid koju Kaplinna lähedale Gugulethu township'i. Mustanahaliste aafriklaste rahvahulk hakkas ta autot kividega loopima. Raskelt vigastatud Biehl püüdis põgeneda, kuid teda loobiti kividega ja pussitati surnuks.[6][7] Amy Biehl tapeti, sest ta oli valge.[8]

1994. aasta oktoobris mõisteti neli meest Amy Biehli mõrva eest 18 aastaks vangi.[9] 1998. aastal otsustas Tõe ja Lepituse Komisjon Biehli mõrvarid amnestia alusel ennetähtaegselt vanglast vabastada, kuna nende tegevuse motiivid olevat olnud poliitilised.[10] Amy Biehli vanemad toetasid nende vabastamise otsust.[11]

1994. aastal asutasid Amy Biehli vanemad Amy Biehli Fondi (Amy Biehl Foundation Trust) township'ide noorte arengu heaks ja vägivallast eemalehoidmiseks.[12]
