El Repertorio es un concepto que tiene origen en el vocablo latino repertorĭum. Este es un término latino que significa “conjunto de obras” y que es fruto de la suma de tres componentes de dicha lengua:
-El prefijo “re-”, que es equivalente a “de nuevo” o “hacia atrás”.
-El verbo “parare”, que se puede traducir como “preparar”.
-El sufijo “-torio”, que se usa para indicar “relacionado con”.
En el campo teatral y musical, el término alude a un grupo de textos comúnmente representados en teatros y salas de conciertos o bien interpretados por un determinado intérprete, y pueden por tanto hacer referencia:
- a un repertorio operístico, conjunto de óperas que suelen representarse con cierta regularidad en un teatro de ópera;
- a un repertorio coral, conjunto de obras de canto interpretadas habitualmente en una época;
- a un repertorio teatral, textos representados habitualmente en un teatro o por un artista;
- a un repertorio de canciones es una lista de canciones, interpretadas por diferentes o varios cantantes solistas e grupos musicales;
- a un repertorio arqueológico, en una excavación, conjunto de elementos hallados, registrados y clasificados;
- a un repertorio numérico, en didáctica de la matemática, conjunto de resultados que un alumno dispone en memoria, por comprensión a partir de esta, que le permite realizar cálculos más difíciles: repertorio aditivo, sumas que ya sabe el alumno; repertorio multiplicativo, productos que ya sabe.
