La tropika jaro daŭras 365.24220 terajn diurnojn, t.e. ĝi estas pli kurta je 20 minutoj kompare kun la stela jaro. Kiam oni parolas pri la jaro en ĉiutaga vivo oni kutime parolas pri tropika jaro.
