5341 Purgathofer estas asteroido de la asteroida zono, malkovrita la 24-an de septembro 1960 de la usona astronomo Tom Gehrels kaj de la nederlandaj geastronomoj Ingrid van Houten-Groeneveld kaj Cornelis Johannes van Houten, de la observatorio de Leiden.
En septembro kaj oktobro 1960, Tom Gehrels fotis la ĉielon elde la Observatorio de la Monto Palomar en la kadro de la Palomar–Leiden survey ; kaj sendis la fotografiajn platojn en Leiden (Nederlandon), kie ilin ekzamenis la geedzoj Ingrid kaj Cornelis van Houten dum la sekvantaj jaroj por trovi novajn asteroidojn.
Nomo
