4549 Burkhardt estas asteroido de la asteroida zono, malkovrita la 29-an de septembro 1973 de la usona astronomo Tom Gehrels kaj de la nederlandaj geastronomoj Ingrid van Houten-Groeneveld kaj Cornelis Johannes van Houten, de la observatorio de Leiden, en la kadro de la "Second Trojan Survey"[1] ("Dua Enketo pri Trojanoj").
Por tiu enketo, Tom Gehrels fotis la ĉielon elde la Observatorio de la Monto Palomar, sur la altaĵoj de San-Diego, (Kalifornio, Usono). La fotaj platoj, senditaj en Leiden (Nederlandon), estis ekzamenitaj de la geedzoj Ingrid kaj Cornelis van Houten dum la sekvantaj jaroj.
