ਫਲੋਰੈਂਸ (/ˈflɒrəns/ FLOR-əns; Italian: Firenze [fiˈrɛntse] (
ਸੁਣੋ))[2] ਇਟਲੀ ਦੇ ਖੇਤਰ ਤੋਸਕਾਨਾ ਅਤੇ ਫਲੋਰੈਂਸ ਮਹਾਂਨਗਰ ਦੀ ਰਾਜਧਾਨੀ ਹੈ। ਇਹ 3,82,000 ਦੀ ਅਬਾਦੀ ਨਾਲ ਤੋਸਕਾਨਾ ਦਾ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਜ਼ਿਆਦਾ ਅਬਾਦੀ ਵਾਲਾ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਹੈ। ਮਹਾਂਨਗਰ ਖੇਤਰ ਦੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਕੁੱਲ ਅਬਾਦੀ 15,20,000 ਦੇ ਕਰੀਬ ਹੈ।[3]
ਇਹ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਆਪਣੇ ਇਤਿਹਾਸ ਲਈ ਮਸ਼ਹੂਰ ਹੈ। ਮੱਧਕਾਲੀ ਯੂਰਪ ਵਿੱਚ ਇਹ ਵਪਾਰ ਅਤੇ ਪੂੰਜੀ ਦਾ ਕੇਂਦਰ ਸੀ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਵੇਲੇ ਦੇ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਅਮੀਰ ਸ਼ਹਿਰਾਂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਇੱਕ ਸੀ।[4] ਇਸਨੂੰ ਮੁੜ-ਸੁਰਜੀਤੀ ਦੀ ਜਨਮ-ਭੂਮੀ ਅਤੇ ਮੱਧਕਾਲ ਦਾ ਐਥਨਜ਼ ਕਿਹਾ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।[5] 1865 ਤੋਂ 1871 ਤੱਕ ਇਹ ਇਟਲੀ ਬਾਦਸ਼ਾਹੀ ਦੀ ਰਾਜਧਾਨੀ ਸੀ।
