Vasilios Daniil (Greek: Βασίλειος Δανιήλ; born 3 August 1938) is a Greek football manager of national reputation.

He managed Kavala, Kastoria, Apollon Kalamarias, Panathinaikos,[1] Olympiakos Volos, Skoda Xanthi,[2] Paniliakos and Greece.[3]

As coach of Panathinaikos, he led his team to Uefa Cup quarter finals in 1987 - 1988 and he won the double in 1991.

Greece National Team

[edit]

He served as head coach of the Greece national football team from 1999 - 2001. He made his official debut as the coach of Greece on 31 March 1999 in an away match against Latvia (0-0), for the Euro 2000 qualifiers.[4] During his time coaching the national team, Daniil had 14 wins, 8 loses and 8 draws.[4] He faced difficulties in staffing the team, as during that period three AEK players, Demis Nikolaidis, Michalis Kasapis and Elias Atmattsidis, whom Daniil was considering as starters, abstained from the national team in protest against the refereeing in the Greek league.[4]
