WCNC[edit]

YOUR FREAKING QUICK!!!!! THAT BUGS ME. ANYHOW - the edits I have came from THE VERY SAME PAPER as you cited for other aspects of the article. The dates which WRET dropped 700 for nothing initially and two weeks or so later Trinity Praise were ACCORDING TO TV Listings page on this paper from the same time period. This can be found on the Observer - Just go to Newspapers Ancestry site where you go to get all the other articles to refer. Just put WRET as keyword and put April 1 1973 to June 1 1973 and the windows to view listings will be there. I PROMISE. The show would be split from the TN UMbrella later in 74 but do not have sources for that exact date. But do have sources for Turner's change at WRET from CBN to TBN/PTL. Thanks - nothing personal. STILL HOW DO YOU FIND CHANGES IN THESE ARTCICLES SO FAST LIKE IN MINUTES IF NOT SECONDS????? Marckd (talk) 20:42, 22 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I think you need help with your edits. I suggest you ask my good friend @Sammi Brie:. Mvcg66b3r (talk) 20:44, 22 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Marckd The problem—and the core reason for your edits being rverted—is that citing TV listings is just not good enough. I am usually looking for content that is discussed in actual articles. I found some for WCNC and have put them in. Sammi Brie (she/her • tc) 21:10, 22 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

KTBN[edit]

Can provide a reliable source for when TBN began on WRET/WCNC which came from the Observer TV Listings. But concede cannot find exact sources for when Bakker broke up from the Crouches and TBN so on that I agree. But still WRET did indeed replace 700 Club with TBN programs hosted by Bakker which started out under TBN Umbrella. I know he broke fro TBN but cannot cite when or under what circumstances. By 1975 though it was aparant that Bakker was on his own. Cannot cite when or how though. So I will leave that out Marckd (talk) 20:49, 22 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Removal on KVVU-TV and Gray Television[edit]

Hello, I believe you have made a mistake or just didn't care to watch the video created by independent journalists which showed proof of of the claims which makes me question how you felt it was unreliable if you didn't actually review any of it. But I guess you'd like to wait until other news articles report on it because you feel there is some issue with independent journalism if they're not linked to a corporate entity. A cited claim from KVVU-TV is just as good as a cited claim from Channel 5 (web channel), otherwise I believe I can remove every citation linked to KVVU-TV and other local media stations as unreliable sources which would basically remove more than half of KVVU-TV citations. Please reconsider and understand independent journalism that shows proof of the controversy is just as valid as corporate journalism. Gettinglit (talk) 01:05, 1 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Gettinglit: You forgot to sign your post. @Sammi Brie: Your take? Mvcg66b3r (talk) 00:57, 1 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, I guess the auto-sign feature got removed?.
It's fine if you'd like to wait for other news stations to report on it (which would be using the same cited source as I did for their report). We can also wait for the court records to become available to cite as the journalist is taking KVVU-TV to court over it.
I'm not adding it back until there's more citations to support it per your request. However I feel this is just censoring an independent journalist and their media group in favor of another despite the claims being cited and visually shown unless you're implying the journalist of committing fraud and faked the takedown request and all evidence of it shown or, if you just didn't actually bother to read any of it and still decided to remove it for some reason. Gettinglit (talk) 01:20, 1 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I've noticed the edit warring, as another voice here we should look at WP:NOT, WP:PRIMARYUSE, WP:UNDUE. This is self-reported "controversy" from a primary video source. We should wait for additional, reliable sources before putting undue weight on either article.
It's not about the source "committing fraud" or being unreliable. Fuser55 (talk) 01:22, 1 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I don't believe there's any "edit warring" as I did not edit it back in after it was removed and even stated I'm not going to add it back in until there are most citations from other news organizations as well as the court records available from the lawsuit.
There's quite a few citations that can be removed for the things you have mentioned including citations by KVVU-TV itself but I feel removal of such things wouldn't be beneficial to anyone, as I feel the same about this case but respect both of your opinions and therefore will not edit it back until more citations are available to support it per your requests, but I do feel this clearly is just censoring a independent journalist and their media group who has shown significant evidence of the controversy in favor of a larger corporate media group. Scripps News affiliates[edit]

On the affiliates section of this article, could you help with the an affiliate template and add stations according this RabbitEars link: https://www.rabbitears.info/search.php?request=network_search&network=Scripps+News&sort=state? OWaunTon (talk) 16:33, 3 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

My edits to the above page are necessary because: 1. The piped links avoid redirects. 2. Only AM & SW stations in Canada do not carry suffixes; all other broadcast stations do (FM, analog TV, digital TV). 3. These stations with piped links have changed their callsigns since CBUFT-DT signed on as CBUFT-TV in 1976 & are there for historic clarification. Stereorock (talk) 21:11, 7 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I have blocked LeeWeathers1986AV from using the "thank" facility for a month. If they return to disruptive thanks after that, or if they use another method of harassment, please feel welcome to let me know, and I will consider whether a larger block may be suitable. (However, I hope that won't be necessary, as the present limited block should be enough to get the message across.) JBW (talk) 21:36, 7 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

WLUC-TV de-piping[edit]

Greetings,

I've noticed you have recently edited articles with the edit summary of "de-piping" to explain removing links to embedded redirects, and to remove extrapolations of abbreviations. While the spirit of the effort is appreciated - it is actually unnecessary, amounts to busywork, and may need to be undone at a later date in cases of disambiguation or other situations. Please take a moment to review WP:NOTBROKEN for more information regarding this. Thanks. --Picard's Facepalm Made It So Engage! 18:08, 10 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

April 2024[edit]

Information iconHello, Mvcg66b3r, I saw that you made a draft for a new article at User:Mvcg66b3r/KXNV-LD. Short term hosting of potentially valid articles and other reasonable content under development or in active use is usually acceptable. But in this case, you haven't edited your draft for a long time. If you wish to improve the draft yourself, please do. Otherwise, you may consider donating it to WikiProject Abandoned Drafts (a participant can help). It may also be best to just fully scrap the draft and idea since similar articles have practically been rapid-fire nominated at AfD and PROD. Shadow311 (talk) 15:35, 19 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion nomination of Category:2012 disestablishments in Wyoming[edit]

A tag has been placed on Category:2012 disestablishments in Wyoming indicating that it is currently empty, and is not a disambiguation category, a category redirect, a featured topics category, under discussion at Categories for discussion, or a project category that by its nature may become empty on occasion. If it remains empty for seven days or more, it may be deleted under section C1 of the criteria for speedy deletion.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and removing the speedy deletion tag. plicit 14:51, 31 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Postal abbreviations in templates[edit]

Regarding my changes to the Boston TV template, from MOS:POSTABBR: “Postal codes and abbreviations of place names—e.g., Calif. (California), TX (Texas), Yorks. (Yorkshire)—should not be used to stand for the full names in normal text. They can be used in tables when space is tight but should be marked up with template on first occurrence. They should not be used in infoboxes. An exception is Washington, D.C., which has been conventionally called so, for reasons of clarity, since long before postal codes were invented. "Washington, D.C.", or "Washington, DC", may be used in tables in which other state postal codes appear; never use "Washington D.C." (without a comma).” Stereorock (talk) 01:35, 4 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Your reversions to my WBAL, WBFF, WMAR, and WJZ edits[edit]

You had recently reverted several of my "non-constructive" edits. I do know how your reversion tool works but it seems you may not have read the content that I added as your message on my talk page suggested the edits "did not appear to be constructive". All the edits were additions to the pages of Baltimore television stations citing their most recent regional Emmy and Edward R. Murrow Awards. The edits are reliably sourced, relevant to article and certainly significant to the subject referenced. May I respectfully suggest that you scrutinize the edits that your too suggests before reverting the work of another editor. Thank You. Marylandstater (talk) 19:27, 10 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I suggest you read this and this. Mvcg66b3r (talk) 19:30, 10 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for the suggestion, but in the 17 years I have been editing I have read both of those passages many times and neither apply to edits that you have reverted. Perhaps if you listed some examples of your resistance to these edits rather than stating some concessionary rules, I might understand your objections better. Marylandstater (talk) 19:58, 10 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
You shouldn't be listing every award won by a station (that's WP:TMI). Mvcg66b3r (talk) 20:03, 10 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Again, you may want to read the edits before making critical comments. Each of the stations involved have won numerous awards over the past several years, I've only listed the most prestigious awards that a local tv station can receive: The Edward R. Murrow Award and The local Emmy Award.
Actors who receive Oscars or Emmys have them prominently displayed on their pages. Athletes who have won MVP awards have those type awards listed on their pages. Even when a motion picture is simply nominated for an Oscar, that information is reflected on its page. These edits are relevant, sourced and helpful to our readers who seek a well balance range of information about the subjects they seek; in this case TV stations. (also one of the station's pages has an "Awards" section which you did not delete apparently because your reversion bot didn't catch it and/or you haven't read the article. Marylandstater (talk) 21:10, 10 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

here is an example of an animated film, just a film, but on its page is what you would expect in describing a film including every single award the film won and even those it was nominated for:List of accolades received by Turning Red Marylandstater (talk) 21:23, 10 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hi @Marylandstater, awards for broadcast stations and awards for films and other works need to be handled differently. The main reason is that many awards are regional (in some cases with nomination fees that not all local stations pay). This is the case with the Emmys and Murrows.
I actively search out some awards to mention on station pages: national News and Documentary Emmys; national Murrow Awards; and several national-only journalism awards, including the Peabody and duPont–Columbia, that are extremely prestigious and only awarded to a handful of TV stations in any given year. The first two are selected from among the regional winners (in the case of the former, they receive an award that is not technically an Emmy!).
In Baltimore, these awards have been historically very few and far between. Only twice has a Baltimore TV station been recognized for a Peabody; then-WAAM-TV got an honorable mention in 1950, and WBAL won one in 2004. The market has received five duPont–Columbia Awards in television and a sixth in radio.
This regional/national distinction does affect notability. Regional Emmys do not confer notability. National ones probably do. Sammi Brie (she/her • tc) 22:02, 10 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
