Ciao

(in English) I think that the best solution for you would be to wait the end of the block period. If I'm not wrong, you are allowed to contact admins by email. What led to the decision of a month block was, however, the spread opinion that you tried to alter the consensus by intervening also anonymously. See you soon, good job. --Harlock81 (talk) 23:59, 21 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Christian Democratic Union (Germany)

[edit]

Hi there. Thanks for your contribution to this article. However, the political position you changed was sourced. Have you even had a look at the source? Please either provide an independent source (which means a source that is not the CDU's website or in any other way affiliated with it) for your claim of the CDU being centre or stop deleting sourced material. Thanks. Janfrie1988 (talk) 00:55, 22 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. I have laid out my thoughts concerning this on the CDU talk page. I think the CDU incorporates a lot of different people with different views. Some of them are centrist, some of them are right wing and most of them are centre-right, so it is more adequate to call the CDU centre-right. I disagree that the CDU was ever even in the vicinity of being on the left (and they never claimed to be) After the war their stance was feverishly anti-socialist and to some degree even revanchist. On some election campaign posters they even claimed that Germany should get the territory back that it had lost in World War II (Silesia, Kaliningrad, etc.), and their foreign policy always aimed at unconditionally supporting the USA in the Cold War. It was only when the SPD came into power and after Brandt's Warschauer Kniefall that a reconciliation with Germany's eastern neighbours became possible. The CDU long held conservative positions on the role of women and gay rights and has always put its focus on free market capitalism instead of strengthening workers unions or social welfare.
I agree that the CDU has become less conservative over time and has especially modernised its views on the role of women and changed views on some economic issues. However, I wouldn't overestimate this, as especially the change of mind on some financial issues is due to the recent financial crisis. They know that they would scare away voters if they advocated free-market capitalism after its obvious failure in the recent years. So while the CDU might not be as right-wing as the US-Republicans or Berlusconi's Il Popolo della Libertà, to call them centre would mean to uncritically buy in to what they claim to be themselves. Of course, "centre" sounds nice and the CDU claims to be there to get support from voters, however, all independent sources I have seen (and sources are what we have to follow, our own speculations are rather irrelevant), classify the CDU as centre-right. Please also check the Wikipedia articles on centre and centre-right. The latter fits far better. Regards, Janfrie1988 (talk) 21:08, 25 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Unblocked

[edit]

Hello. I have unblocked you as Harlock81 (talk · contribs) pointed out that you were not evading a block on en.wikipedia, rather you had been blocked on it.wikipedia. Toddst1 (talk) 14:12, 22 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I apologyze for the misunderstanding that led to your block on en.wiki yesterday night. Now, anyway, it's all clarified. Bie. --Harlock81 (talk) 16:10, 22 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
My Italian is lousy. Perhaps some of the responsibility is on me. Toddst1 (talk) 16:19, 22 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
