Dafydd Rogers
[edit]Theatrebuff1989 (talk) 23:04, 21 August 2024 (UTC) H - there is something strange going on that I hope you can explain/resolve with me. I noticed some time ago that the entry David Pugh and Dafydd Rogers had been changed to David Pugh and Rogers had been deleted from the record completely of their shared production partnership. Following Wikipedia guidelines I corrected this in the entry now called David Pugh (Theatre Producer) adding Rogers back to the shared productions and supporting with verifiable and sensible sources. I then created a draft article for Rogers. Some of the content is of course similar because of their shared career (which went on for more than 20 years). It was declined by Dan Arndt due to similarity and was suggested that I merge the two pages. I questioned this through the reviewer and the articles for creation help page but received no answer. I then updated Rogers' article with more sources that highlight his own participation, as well as emphasising his career before and after the partnership. Upon submitting the article for creation a second time, I noticed that there were redirects from this new article to Pugh's. I then tried to undo this in order to emphasise that these articles should be independent of each other , but with some digging also note that someone has even redirected the name Dafydd (Welsh for David) to David Pugh's page. Surely there is some manipulation going on that will unfairly impact the review process, making it seem that David Pugh is a more important and original entry than Dafydd Rogers when in fact the historical truth is that the two men had an equal partnership (and a shared wikipedia entry originally) that was the bulk of their significant contribution with distinct pathways before and after their collaboration. Whilst they could have a joint page, because they are both continuing to work, it makes sense for there to be two biographical pages even with some overlapping content. I am concerned that someone is manipulating Wikipedia on behalf of David Pugh and that this is resulting in their bias being imported into the review process. I am sending a message like this to all the users involved in the redirect to check about whether this is correct or not. I am new to Wikipedia so please do explain if I;ve missed something important and many thanks! Theatrebuff1989

Hi,
You just recently rejected my article draft on account of "Duke University websites are all primary sources, and therefore not independent."
I'm having a really hard time understanding what can be a reliable secondary source to include in Wikipedia for a living university professor's biography, especially considering that Universities are generally considered the most reliable sources of information for their faculty, as they clearly list their list of achievements and resume to be in the positions they hold. In this particular case, all sources that are in my draft generally contain the same information, and not all sources are from Duke University, also containing sources from Duke Kunshan University, Brill, United States Library of the Congress, National Post, and Google Scholar.
Could you please provide me with clearer guidance on this, because the Wikipedia page on secondary sources hardly lists anything that can help me with a biography of a living person, and the first, and your rejection are not substantive in helping me correct the draft.

I understand that claims made on Discord typically don't get accepted, but Joël has shared many of these details elsewhere as well, and they align consistently with his public persona. He has openly talked about his experiences, like growing up in the forests like Aurora Aksnes, his admiration for certain artists, his childhood, and his goals in various digital interviews and social media platforms. Joël is very transparent about his past and present, making it highly unlikely that he's not being truthful. I would appreciate any advice on how to properly cite these sources and structure the article to meet Wikipedia's standards.
