Talk page reverts

[edit]

This IP is allowed to remove the warning on their own talk page per WP:TPO. Removal is acknowledgement that the person read it. EvergreenFir (talk) 22:22, 3 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @EvergreenFir Funny thing is that I saw they reverted your warning, so I tried to help. Only because in the past I've seen those types of warnings were reverted. No good deed goes unpunished (That's me!). I knew that I would see a red bell light up, lol ... that's why I stopped after two reverts. Thanks for your message and good luck throwing out future trash. ;) Regards, - Bringingthewood (talk) 22:36, 3 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
No offense intended at all. I just wanted to let you know the IP's actions were technically allowed, even if kinda crappy. I totally understand why you reverted too. :) EvergreenFir (talk) 04:11, 4 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Bringingthewood I agree, I live in Morris Park but yes, Regis was from Van Nest. I don't know why MP always took ownership of Regis. I've contributed to the Van Nest page significantly over the years. Good to meet you. TheBronxNYC (talk) 04:31, 8 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Image captions

[edit]

In regards to Hines Ward, I'm not sure if those are complete sentences or not. MOS:CAPTION says "Most captions are not complete sentences but merely sentence fragments which should not end with a period. However, if any complete sentence occurs in a caption, then every sentence and every sentence fragment in that caption should end with a period."

It's hard to tell what's a complete sentence sometimes. I've been staying away from the image captions unless it's something obvious like "Ward in 2022". ~WikiOriginal-9~ (talk) 02:26, 20 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Ahhhh .. @:User:WikiOriginal-9 shot me, lol!! I do see what you mean. Hopefully Ward's are like the others .. start off and continue with no period or comma. Those I would do like the image .. remove the period. But like you said, it's good to stay away at times .. because they look like a sentence in a way. I hate seeing a period here and not there. Honestly, the best bet is to revert what I do and I learn from that. Now I have to go and get a bandage. THANK YOU!! ;) John. Bringingthewood (talk) 02:58, 20 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I thought those weren't really complete sentences either, but I've seen commas added to those before, so I'm not sure which way is right... I've been staying away from the long captions, lol. ~WikiOriginal-9~ (talk) 03:17, 20 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
This is why @:User:WikiOriginal-9 is the smart one in the family. Periods and broken sentences for all!!! Where's the wine? @@ Regards, John. Bringingthewood (talk) 03:21, 20 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Someone added the periods back. ~WikiOriginal-9~ (talk) 07:44, 20 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@:User:WikiOriginal-9. Yeah, I saw that. CW has done several Steelers images, cool that he explained it. Maybe he saw my response to you .. revert and I'll learn, lol. Fine with me. Oh yeah, I'll be out of state from Tuesday morning to Friday night. So if you do torch the place ... just leave me a note first. Hee. ;) -- John Bringingthewood (talk) 03:50, 21 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Records not broken down by position

[edit]

I saw that you made this edit recently, which I didn't know was a thing. Is there a place in the formatting listed in the NFL project page where I can find that? There may be other rules I don't know that I would like to see. ChessEric 18:58, 6 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, @:User:ChessEric. First, thank you for your message. Second, I'm half in the bag right now, hope that isn't another Wikipedia rule. I like to answer messages as I see them. To your point, it seemed stupid to specify a position (regarding a record in that section). I believe your concern is me finding consensus. I will follow up on that. You have my word, if it becomes a positional thing, I'll obey it.. and .. I'll also add records for outside linebackers, defensive tackles, defensive backs etc. It is the right thing to do .. don't you think? Hopefully we'll speak again soon. Bringingthewood (talk) 23:19, 6 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, no problem. Since I've gotten, I've learned a number of things, and I'm trying to stay open minded to things. I see your point about not having leaders at positions in the table as it can confuse readers. It wasn't about consensus; it was more about trying to understand your rationale because I've incorporated a number of things that people have told me in this project, like not specifying when games are on MNF or SNF in player articles or listing how many seasons a player has played instead of putting "free agent." Thanks for telling me about your reasoning and I will do the same thing in the future when it comes to leaders by position as well as unbolding GP and GS. ChessEric 02:28, 7 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hi @:User:ChessEric. You have a good outlook on things. A consensus might still be in order, especially if they start getting reverted, lol. I do know that fans of certain positions would like some credit, but it does open up a can of worms .. Why QB and TE and not CB and LB? Know what I mean? The infobox and even the sections specifically for 'awards and honors' seem to be fine for adding those records. But hey, maybe that's just me. We'll see how it goes and thank you very much for reaching out. Stay well. Bringingthewood (talk) 02:39, 7 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Not to mention that they can also go in the summary for each season of the player's career. Plus, for example, if a reader sees that a one player led the league in (for example), rushing touchdowns, but then they see another player led the league in rushing touchdowns at the quarterback position, they may get confused. Keep me posted on that, okay? ChessEric 20:10, 7 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
