User:Tisane/Don't delete users' résumés

At Miscellany for Deletion, we frequently see userpages containing résumés nominated for deletion. Is this really a good idea? Might not the information that a user provides about himself aid in collaboration sometimes? E.g., if you are seeking assistance on an article related to arcane aspects of PHP programming, and you see that a certain user's résumé lists five years of professional experience developing PHP websites, then you know that he may be able to lend assistance on certain technical questions related to PHP.

True, some users might just be seeking self-promotion. But others may just be starting their editing careers and view setting forth their qualifications on the subject matters which they'll be writing about as a logical first step, even though it isn't required by our rules. What is the difference between a userpage containing a résumé and one in which a user presents the same information about education, skills, experience, etc. through 300 userboxes, which presumably would be allowed? Presenting the information through a résumé requires only a copy and paste. Presenting it through userboxes requires the user to hunt down the appropriate userboxes and add them to his page, consuming man-hours that could have been devoted to useful editing. And for what advantage? The only advantage I can see is categorization, and that's just not compelling enough a reason, in my opinion, to merit deletion.
