It is suspected that Wintermetal, Them medals, and Medalstats might be sock puppets of each other.

The accused:

[edit]

These users are accused of sockpuppetry because of the following evidence:

Evidence #1

[edit]

Not one of these users have made a contribution on the same date. Further, each account edits successively after the other, suggesting that the new account was created the next day and used until a new one was made. The creation of these new accounts was probably for the sole purpose of voting and debate, as these three users all have the same strong, forceful, and unhelpful attitudes toward the Wikipedia:Olympic conventions page, namely this section.

Evidence #1.1

[edit]

and their talk pages

  • User:Them medals edited only on Feb 25 with 12 edits, all but 2 along the exact same line as the above. Of the other 2, 1 was his user page and 1 about the different methods of ranking based on gold vs. total.
  • User:Wintermetal edited only on Feb 26 so far with 16 edits. 12 editas are along the same lines on the same pages, 1 on his user page and 2 of the others are dealing with the template that caries the POV statement.

The content of the contributions all folow the exact same line.

For the three users' contributions see here, here and here.

All three users make no other contributions to anything else related to the Olympics and/or medals won save the POV they are advancing.

Evidence #1.2

[edit]

Sometime on March 5 2006 Wintermetal was blocked and after 12 days of inactivity Medalstats has resumed editing all of a sudden.

Evidence #2

[edit]

Them medals: 03:55, February 25, 2006 (hist) (diff) Talk:Total Olympics medal count (support for medal count scores)

Wintermedal: 16:48, February 26, 2006 (hist) (diff) Wikipedia:Olympic conventions/topics (support for medal count scores)

Note the exact same edit summary...

Evidence #3

[edit]

(As posted on this page.)
Comment. Upon further inspection, I noticed that the three suspected sockpuppets never use the templates (supportvote, opposevote, etc.) in any of their comments [[on this page]]. Coincidental, non?--Madchester 23:14, 27 February 2006 (UTC)
