Latino Peak - Victory Mountains in Antarctica

Latino Peak (72°9′S 167°33′E / 72.150°S 167.550°E / -72.150; 167.550) is an Antarctic peak (2,290 m) situated 4 nautical miles (7 km) south-southwest of Mount Hazlett in the Victory Mountains, Victoria Land. It is the highest peak in the vicinity of the bifurcation where the great Tucker and Pearl Harbor Glaciers converge. Its western slope is drained by Summers Glacier. It was mapped by the United States Geological Survey (USGS) from surveys and U.S. Navy aerial photos, 1960–64, and on January 1, 1970 was named by the Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names (US-ACAN) in honor of Terry L. Latino, U.S. Navy SeaBee who camped at McMurdo Station on Ross Island as a member the U.S. Navy Antarctic Support summer expeditions of 1965, 1966. CN Terry L. Latino was a member of the Antarctic "Operation Deep Freeze" Winter-Over party of 1967 and also served in the Vietnam War in 1968-69.
