Epic is a web browser targeted especially at Indian web users. It has been launched by Hidden Reflex, a Bangalore based software setup. The browser has been created by a team of Indian engineers on the open source Mozilla platform. Epic is specially designed for Indian audience therefore it shows distinguished features like Indian themes and wallpapers for browser. Initially the web browser is a freeware and anyone can download it from the website.

Hidden Reflex is a software product startup founded by Alok Bhardwaj in 2007 and based in Bangalore. Alok, who was raised in the U.S., was inspired by the success of open source software and web 2.0 innovations. Hidden Reflex began as a team of three but soon progressed and now has dedicated teams working on two products simultaneously – the Epic Browser and NewsDrink. The company also has three patents pending related to its product innovations. [1]

Epic is powered by open-source Mozilla Firefox and many basic features of browser are like that of Mozilla Firefox.

Epic has been created for Indian audience mainly and therefore it has some distinguished features which make it different from other global leaders such as Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome, Apple Safari and Opera. Some of its distinguished features are like users can pick up themes from the collection of over 1500. This collection is Indian oriented and features topics like Bollywood, Cricket. Therefore user can pick a theme or wallpaper of Bollywood actors and Indian Cricketers. User can write in Hindi at any time since it provides with a very rare feature of transliteration and it is very user friendly and ready to use. User can write in twelve other Indian languages as well. Epic provides with an inbuilt anti-virus which scans the downloaded the file instantly and heals it if possible. Epic also has some other security measure that warns users when they’re about to visit potentially dangerous websites.
