Beatrice Kiraso Amooti is a Ugandan economist, research consultant and politician. She is the Chairperson of Smile Communications Uganda, and CEO of Policy Evaluation Consultants (EA), a consultancy firm that evaluates policy effectiveness for both public and private institutions.

Biography

Beatrice Kiraso was born in Kiburara village, Hakibaale Sub-County, Kabarole District to Eng. Edison Kiraso and Rose Mary Kabadaaki. She attended Kiburara Primary School, then Nyakasura School for her O-Level academic qualifications and Kyebambe Girls’ School for her A-Level education. She further advanced to Makerere University, where she attained a degree in Economics and Social Administration. She also holds a master’s degree in Public Policy and Administration from Harvard University.

Beatrice Kiraso first entered the political arena during a 1996 parliamentary by-election, to replace the exiting Kabarole Woman MP, Joan Rwabyomere. She was elected woman MP for Kabarole district and served in Uganda's parliament until 2006. From 2006-2012 she served as the Deputy Secretary-General in charge of Political Federation to fast track the integration process for the East African Community. In 2016, Uganda fronted Hon. Beatrice Kiraso for the position of Executive Secretary of the International Conference on the Great Lakes Region (ICGLR).
