The Day of the Jackal is an upcoming British television drama serial adaption of the Frederick Forsyth novel of the same name. It is set to star Eddie Redmayne, and be produced by Ronan Bennett and directed by Brian Kirk.

The project for Carnival Films with Sky and Peacock was announced in November 2022.[2] The screenwriter Ronan Bennett was set as writer and showrunner, with Brian Kirk as the lead director.[3] Eddie Redmayne was revealed to be executive producing the series alongside Carnival Films in April 2023.[4]

Casting

Redmayne was revealed to be cast in March 2023.[5] In June 2023, Lashana Lynch joined the cast.[6] Additional casting including Úrsula Corberó, Charles Dance, Richard Dormer and Chukwudi Iwuji was announced in February 2024.[7]

Filming

Filming for the series, taking in four countries and expected to last seven months, was started in June 2023.[8] The shoot began in Budapest, Hungary and its neighboring regions.[9][10] Filming took place in Vienna in July 2023.[11] Filming took place in the autumn of 2023 in Croatia.[12] Croatian locations include Rijeka, Pag, Dubrovnik, and the central Istrian region.[13]

Broadcast

The series will air in the US on Peacock in 2024 and is expected to be broadcast in the UK on Sky Television and streaming platform NOW TV in 2024.
