The Books of the Named (also known as the Ratha series) is a series of young adult prehistoric fiction novels by Clare Bell. These prehistoric wild cats herd prehistoric horses and deer. Ratha, the main character of the series, discovers the Red Tongue, which is what the cats call fire. Thistle-chaser, her daughter, appears in the books, too, and explanations of the series are in the first link below:

The fifth book was sold to Sharyn November, editor for Viking Children's, in a deal in 2005, which included a reissue of the first four books in the series through her Firebird Books imprint.[1]

Kickstarter campaign

[edit]

On 13 February 2013, the Rekindling the Fire: Ratha's Creature Graphic Novel Kickstarter campaign was fully funded. More than 200 backers pledged a total of $6,974 to help create a graphic novel based on the book series.

Rewards included digital copies of the graphic novel, physical copies of it, a "making of" book, pins, stickers, and more.

As of June 2024, the graphic novel has not been made and campaign backers have received none of the promised rewards.
